A Chicas’ Best Therapist

When it comes to cheering up children who are struggling with depression as they deal with the pain caused by the separation from their parent(s) who are serving time in prison, there is no better therapist than Daniel. Danny himself once faced a very uncertain future when his owners went through a breakup and wanted to be rid of their horses from one day to the next.

Danny will play this game with anyone. It is called "all noses up in the air!".

Danny will play this game with anyone. It is called “all noses up in the air!”.

Fortunately, Danny found refuge at the Equine Humane Center where he spent the following two years of his life before coming to live with us. Since he came into our lives, he has proven himself to be an expert therapist. Somehow, he has a nag for making even the most depressed people laugh and feel joy in a way they may not have been able to in years. We think Danny may have been destined to come to a sanctuary where his infectiously funny personality can do so much good. Sometimes things just work out and it is wonderful when they do. The same is true for our Chicas who come to visit the sanctuary to spend some lighthearted hours around our animals and forget the heartbreak of parental incarceration for just a little while.
