Let us introduce you to one of our sanctuary veterans, Shabah. This cute as a button Egyptian Arabian is about 17 years old and was rescued from a neglect situation in Arizona. A previous owner could not deal with his temperament and simply abandoned him in a box stall at a large scale boarding facility. There, nobody took notice of the little horse that hadn’t been taken out of his stall in weeks despite a severe eye infection. A good Samaritan, a young lady, who was visiting a friend’s horse in the neighboring box stall noticed Shabah’s deplorable condition. Upon contacting the barn owner, she was informed that nobody had paid the rent for Shabah’s stall and the horse would soon be sold at auction to recuperate any financial losses. The young lady jumped into action, gathered up all her savings, payed off the outstanding boarding fees and took over Shabah’s ownership. Fortunately, any health issues the sweet Arabian gelding had healed up with time. She subsequently donated him to our organization and Shabah has lived a happy and healthy life at our sanctuary ever since.
He has a wonderfully sweet temperament and loves to receive back scratches. Please enjoy some of the photos taken of him over the years. We are fortunate to call Shabah part of our sanctuary family.
