Meet Sunny

Looking at our peaceful equine crew grazing, you may not realize that there is a wild mustang among them. Meet ‘Little Sunshine’ aka Sunny. This small reddish mare has been with us since 2010 and is by now as mild mannered as any other horse. Sunny enjoys life at the sanctuary so much, she has even turned into somewhat of a barn clown. Back in 2010 we saved her directly from the holding pens of the BLM.

Sunny is a small horse but makes up for it with a bigger than life personality and a voice so deep it seems impossible to originate from such a sweet little mare. Dare to be different – is Sunny’s motto in every way.

Enjoy the following images of our Sunshine taken over a period of years. If you are in the area, please come by and visit the sanctuary – and yes – pet a wild mustang!

All our animals and other important programs are supported by donations from individuals like you. When you visit our sanctuary, you not only get to enjoy a very special time, you also contribute to a great cause. Bring your family! Kids/Teens under the age of 18 visits for free. What’s not to love??

Ever since we showed Sunny how to stretch, she does it on her own frequently.

Sunny has always had a fun attitude. Here she jumps with joy over her brand new huge soccer ball.

Sunny has always had a fun attitude. She sends us an important message: ‘If you are going to play, play like you mean it!’

Sunny has no intentions of sharing her ball with any of the other horses, no matter how politely they ask!
